now the eyes of my eyes are opened...

This week was a sad one...this world lost an incredible soul.  My beloved movement teacher, friend and mentor, Kristin Spangler has gone home after a long battle with breast cancer.  Just when I thought I couldn't hate cancer any more than I already do, it strips the soul of a fiesty yet grounded, bright and strikingly beautiful 39 year old woman.  I just saw Kris two months ago...she came to the book signing for Everything Changes in Andersonville.  That's how amazing this woman is, she came out to celebrate my cancer survivorship while battling her own.  There are no words.  She taught me more than just the Alexander Technique...the lessons I learned from her at Barat and the 5 years after will stay with me for the rest of my days.  She loved her students as if they were her own children and I feel very honored to have known her for as long as I did.

Kris, I love you dearly.

i thank you God for this most amazing day:
for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky;and for everything
which is natural which is infinite which is yes

i who have died am alive again today,
and this is the sun's birthday;this is the birth
day of life and love and wings:and of the gay
great happening illimitably earth

how should tasting touching hearing seeing
breathing any-lifted from the no
of all nothing-human merely being
doubt unimaginably you?

(now the ears of my ears awake and
now the eyes of my eyes are opened)
